Anti-Money Laundering Policy
Why do you need to verify who I am?
1.1 Richmond Casino complies with Canadian requirements covering age limits, identity checks and money laundering. Knowing who our players are is central to meeting those requirements.
1.2 Verification stops criminals from using our games to move or hide money. It also stops people from playing under someone else's name and keeps minors out.
1.3 It protects you too. A verified account is much harder for anyone else to take over or use for fraud.
1.4 We only accept players where local law allows it. We check who you are and where you're playing from before we process your first deposit.
Which records do you hold, and who receives your reports?
2.1 We keep records of identity checks, documents, deposits, withdrawals and betting activity for as long as Canadian law requires.
2.2 We store these records securely, and access is limited to staff whose compliance duties require it. Our Personal Data Policy describes how we protect them.
2.3 Where Canadian law requires it, we file reports about large or suspicious transactions with the appropriate authorities.
2.4 The law can prevent us from telling a player that we have filed a report. In that case, we cannot discuss it.
What happens if my checks fail?
3.1 Your account is restricted if we can't confirm your identity, age or location. Deposits, bets and withdrawals are on hold until the issue is resolved.
3.2 If documents are missing or unclear, we tell you exactly what is needed and give you a fair chance to send it.
3.3 If documents turn out to be false, altered or someone else's, we close the account and void related bets and winnings. Where the law requires, we also report the case.
3.4 If a player turns out to be under 19, the steps on our Protecting Minors page apply.
Why would you want to know the source of my money?
4.1 Sometimes we need to understand the origin of the funds you play with. This can happen when deposits are large, when they change suddenly or when activity does not fit your profile.
4.2 Helpful proof can include:
- a recent pay slip
- a bank statement showing regular income
- proof of a property or investment sale
- a tax return
- documents for an inheritance or gift
4.3 We look at this information privately and only use it for compliance. While we examine it, withdrawals may be paused.
4.4 If we can't verify that your money comes from a lawful source, we may limit or close your account.
Do you keep watching accounts after sign-up?
5.1 Yes. Checks do not end once you are verified. We monitor activity on every account for the whole time it stays open.
5.2 Our systems flag patterns such as:
- money deposited and then withdrawn with almost no play
- lots of new payment methods added quickly
- deposits that do not match a player's known means
- multiple accounts tied to a single person, device or payment method
- attempts to play from locations where we do not take players
5.3 Withdrawals are paid through Interac e-Transfer, Payz (ecoPayz) or Skrill, and the receiving account must belong to you. Payments to or from third parties are not allowed.
5.4 We may request updated documents if your details change or your ID expires.
Do you check players against sanctions lists and politically exposed person records?
6.1 Yes. We check every player against Canadian and international sanctions lists at sign-up and regularly after that.
6.2 We use the term politically exposed person for anyone who holds, or once held, an important public role, such as a senior politician, judge or military officer. This also covers their relatives and close associates.
6.3 You can still play if you are a politically exposed person. We will simply run extra checks, which may include questions about your wealth and closer watching of your account.
6.4 We will not open or keep an account for anyone named on a sanctions list.
How do you check my identity and age, and which documents do you need?
7.1 When you sign up, you give us your full name, your date of birth and your home address. We check these against trusted data sources and confirm where you are before your first deposit.
7.2 If the electronic check doesn't give us enough information, we'll ask you for documents. These are usually:
- Photo ID: a government-issued photo card, such as a valid passport or driver's licence, that shows your name and birth date
- Address: a government letter, utility bill or recent bank statement with your name on it
- Payment method: for Mastercard, a photo of the front of your card with the middle numbers covered; for e-wallets such as Skrill or Payz, a screenshot of your wallet page showing your name
7.3 Please send clear colour images where all four corners are visible and nothing is cut off or edited.
7.4 Email your documents to mail@richmondcasino.app using the address registered on your account. We will tell you as soon as the check is finished.
Who do I contact about verification?
8.1 All contact is by email:
- mail@richmondcasino.app for sending documents
- mail@richmondcasino.app for questions about checks or a restricted account
- mail@richmondcasino.app for anything else
8.2 Never send documents to any other address. We will never ask for your password.
8.3 For more on accounts and payments, see our Terms & Conditions and Personal Data Policy.
